e-Waste Collection Day: On 2-07
the "GRR" team sponsored an environ-
mental hazardous waste collection and recycling day in the lower parking lot of Atascadero High School. Team member Becca and adult team mentor Janet checked in contributors and thanked them for their participation.
Back to School Night
Atascadero High School's "Back to School Night" is a night where parents walk around campus to each of their children's classes. On August 28th, we set up a demonstration in front of Mr. Miron's Room, C4, in order to attract more notice from the school. We sold hexbugs to save up for future competitions.
Fall Classic
Fall Classic is an off-season event that plays the game from the previous season. This year, Fall Classic was on Saturday, September 27th at John Muir High School in Pasadena, CA. GRR entered ARMageddon and won a second-place award.
Colony Days Parade
The Atascadero Colony Days Parade took place on October 18th at 10 am along El Camino Road. GRR also participated in the parade and set up a booth afterward. This was a very beneficial event: We sold many Hexbugs, caught the interest of many people, and gave our newest members a very useful experience.
SLO Farmer's Market
GRR participated in the SLO Farmer's Market on Thursday, December 4th. We sold Hexbugs, answed questions about our team, and demonstrated one of our robots.
Winter Wonderland
Winter Wonderland took place on Friday, December 12th. We had a booth set up and sold Hexbugs.
