MISSION STATEMENT
To learn the business, engineering, design, fabrication, and technical aspects of building an innovative and effective robot capable of being competitive at a top level in FIRST Robotics Competitions.
ABOUT US
GRR, or Greyhound Revolutionary Robotics, is a high school robotics team nestled in Atascadero, California, a small town right outside Cal Poly, San Luis Obisbo. Each year in the spring, we design and fabricate a new robot within a six-week build season. Then, we use our robot to compete in FIRST FRC competitions. It is a great learning experience for all the students on the team and we get hands on enginnering and machining practice. Our team number is 973.
FIRST
FIRST, or "For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology," is a foundation that entwines students with technology, innovation, hard work, and team ethic. Since its beginning in 1992, FIRST has made waves in the science and educational worlds. FIRST
currently runs several different programs. FLL, or FIRST Lego League, is a lego robotics program for kids ages 9 through 14. FTC, or FIRST Tech Challenge, is a VEX program for junior high school students. FRC, or FIRST Robotics Competition, is a high school level robotics competition. More information about FIRST can be found on www.usfirst.org
CAL POLY ALLIANCE
The Cal Poly Alliance is the union of Cal Poly and FIRST teams in the San Luis Obispo County. This organization was founded in order to procreate inter-team cooperation and to provide college-level support to these teams. Current teams involved are Atascadero's GRR (Team 973) and Arroyo Grande's Eagle Robotics (Team 1388).
